The VegMech Study Tour Europe 2026: From California to Europe

Following the success of the 2024 study tour in California, VegMech is taking the next step with an ambitious European study tour in 2026.

A delegation of 20 Australian vegetable growers will travel across key innovation hubs in Europe to explore cutting-edge technologies, meet leading producers, and exchange directly with their peers.

🇬🇧 United Kingdom – Innovation in Action

The tour will begin in the UK, with visits to innovative farms such as G’s, Frederick Hiam, PDM Produce among others to observe autonomous solutions in operation, engage in peer-to-peer discussions with UK growers and understand how technologies are integrated into their day-to-day operations.

Participants will also attend the British Leafy Salads Demo Day, a key event showcasing the latest advancements in vegetable production.

🇳🇱 The Netherlands – Technology & R&D Leadership

The delegation will then travel to the Netherlands, a global leader in agricultural innovation.

The program will include demonstrations and visits to leading agtech companies, such as Odd.Bot, Pixel Farming and Trabotyx, among others, as well as insights into ongoing projects at Wageningen University, one of the world’s top agricultural research institutions.

A unique learning experience, the emphasis will be on:

  • Peer-to-peer exchange
  • Hands-on learning
  • Exposure to solutions available today

The core objective remains clear: Identify and assess technologies that can effectively address the needs of Australian vegetable growers.

The Grower Reference Group: At the Heart of the Project

The Grower Reference Group continues to play a central role in guiding the VegMech project.

By bringing together forward-thinking producers, the group helps to:

  • Define priorities
  • Provide feedback on technologies
  • Ensure alignment with real operational needs

As one member highlights: “The VegMech program is providing growers with early access to the latest technologies and connecting Australian growers and the vegetable industry to global efforts that are working to improve grower profitability” Adam Scheurs - Scheurs & Sons

Looking Ahead: Turning Innovation into Adoption

With its 2026 roadmap, VegMech reinforces its ambition to go beyond discovery and drive real adoption of agricultural robotics.
