Functionalities and technologies

  • Core Functionality : Ecominos is a compact, modular agricultural robot that can operate in teleoperated, semi-autonomous or fully autonomous modes. It uses RTK-GPS, LiDAR, depth cameras, IMU and AI-based computer vision for navigation and crop monitoring. Its functions include mechanical weed control, crop and field mapping, plant-health monitoring, precision spraying and transport. Its narrow, crop-friendly design enables operation between rows while limiting soil compaction and the need for repeated tractor passes.
  • Software : Ecominos integrates RTK-GNSS positioning, 360° LiDAR, front and rear depth cameras, RGB computer vision, IMU, wheel encoders and onboard edge computing. Depending on the model, it supports AI-based crop and weed detection, row following, obstacle detection, autonomous navigation and task planning. Optional Orbisense technology adds environmental, soil and plant-health sensing, multispectral measurements and crop-monitoring analytics.
  • Connectivity : Ecominos can operate locally without continuous internet access for core driving and field tasks. Mobile or Wi-Fi connectivity is used for remote monitoring, software updates, data synchronisation, reporting and AI-supported farm insights. RTK correction can be received through an internet-based NTRIP service or an optional local RTK base station where network coverage is limited. GPS field boundaries, routes, and task maps can be imported into or exported from the Orbiba platform for integration with farm-management systems.
  • Compatible Tools : Ecominos uses interchangeable electric agricultural modules mounted at the rear or under the chassis. Compatible tools include mechanical weeding units, shallow hoes and cultivators, targeted spraying systems, transport trailers and crop-sensing modules. Planned modules include seeding, fertilising, brush or knife cutting, UV treatment and precision laser weeding. A typical working implement is approximately 60 cm (24 inches) wide, divided into adjustable sections for different row spacings, with a recommended module weight below 30 kg (66 lbs). Modules can be powered through the robot’s 24 V electrical interface and controlled through the onboard system.

Development Roadmap

  • Next phase : Our next development phase is the Beta Robot Farmer Program, through which we plan to deploy 60 Ecominos robots with early-adopter farmers in Türkiye and Europe. The robots will be offered below standard commercial prices in exchange for structured field collaboration, operational data and regular farmer feedback. This program will validate performance across different crops and conditions, improve autonomy and AI models, refine interchangeable modules, and optimise the robot for scalable production and wider commercial deployment.
